Drync 3.0 How-To: A User’s Guide

March 6, 2015

So, you’ve updated to Drync 3.0, the latest and greatest version of the app for wine lovers. We’re glad to have you here, and we know that with this comprehensive update, the new interface can be a little dizzying at first. Drync Blog to the rescue. We’ve put together a little road-map for the Drync 3.0 overhaul, for your convenience and enjoyment. (BTW, if you haven’t updated, you can do so here: http://dryn.cc/1aC6pq4). Enjoy!!

For starters, the user interface is entirely different. No more sidebar “hamburger menu” — now, you navigate through the app using a series of tabs at the bottom of your screen. From left to right, these tabs are: Discover, Social Community, Scan, Cellar, Account Profile, and they are represented by the graphics you see below. Let’s start with the Discover tab:

The compass in the bottom left brings you to the Discover feature, where you can search for wines by style, region, and grape, as well as bottle recommendations based on your own wine preferences. Also, you can look at the carefully curated wine lists from the Drync team as well as other wine experts – these lists range from great bargain wines to wines for the holidays, as well as many other fun collections to browse.

Next is the Community tab…

Here, you can see what all your friends are drinking (simply by “following” their user profiles)… This is a great way to find new wine, and you can also comment on your friends’ posts for a more social experience.

Also (and this is important!), in the top right of your screen, just left of the Cart icon, is a silhouette of a person with a small plus sign… this is the secret to getting more wine for less $!!! Select that tab, and invite your friends to the app using your personalized URL, and when they order their first wine, they get it for $20 off, and you get a $10 credit in your account, towards your next purchase!

Just think of all the savings, and all the wine you and your friends will be able to drync! This understated but awesome feature is something every Drync connoisseur should be aware of.

Now, let’s take a look at the scan function (because honestly, this is the coolest thing ever)

The classic Scan function has been upgraded! Now, the entire interface is much more streamlined (as with the rest of the app). Once you have Scanned your wine, it’s much easier to add tasting notes and ratings, and to share your info with your friends. A few pointers: that ellipsis “…” button on the right allows you to add a wine to your wish-list (if you’re not quite ready to buy), or to fix an improperly curated wine. You can swipe the bottom left and right to see basic info about your wine, community ratings, and even bottle suggestions! And of course, at the bottom, you can add this wine to your Cart and check out immediately, and a few days later it will be on your doorstep!

So, once you’ve Scanned a wine, it goes into your Cellar:

If the Scan function isn’t the coolest thing, then it’s the Cellar. In your Cellar (marked by the two wine glasses, circled above), you can view all the wines you’ve scanned, add ratings, check prices, and buy all the wines in your cart (top right) when you’re ready! The Cellar function is like your wine journal, only it fits in your pocket, it’s much easier to find that Syrah you tried last October, and you can order your next bottle right from your phone. Check out the new Cart!

By the way, if you live in Massachusetts (Drync’s home-base), we can make the wine available for you to pickup in a retail store near you… This is a new feature that we’re VERY excited about. Over time, we hope to expand this option to other states, so if you’re not a MA resident, we’ll be coming to you soon, and for now, we’ll ship it right to your home.

Also, iPhone 6 and 6+ users can check out with Apple Pay – now it’s just that much easier to buy the wine you love!

Well, that’s the buzz on Drync 3.0 for iPhone! We love the new app and hope that you do too. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions, comments, and any other feedback (in fact, if you send us a private message with your thoughts, we’ll drop $5 credit into your account!)
